The Chain Debate

For some time now I have struggled with the question, "What will I do when ordinary bands will no longer fit the ball?" I do not want anything but rubberbands to be in the ball, which rules out using glue. I also did not want any loose ends, which I thought eliminated the option of creating chains of bands. Although bands can be chained without knots, there are still two loose ends to address. I did not want to have to tie these ends, because I did not want to have any dangling, loose ends hanging from the Ball. Now, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Ian Leonard and Theresa Kyi, I have a solution. I can chain any number of bands, so long as the bands on either end are large enough to fit around the circumference of the ball. This would mean that I could secure one end around the ball, wrap the chain around the ball, and then wrap the last link completely around the ball. This would leave no loose ends anywhere, and would also not require any bands to be cut, melted, or modified (which would go against my rubberband purist philosophies).
