The story so far:
My first real job was as a Junior Counselor at our local YMCA. One day during our afternoon TV time, the kids were watching the PeeWee's Playhouse. We were having problems with them shooting rubberbands at each other, and I was busy collecting rubberbands from the kids. About that time on PeeWee's Playhouse, Cowboy Curtis drops in on PeeWee for a surprise visit. He brought a gift for PeeWee, which turned out to be a rubberband. PeeWee loudly exclaimed something to the effect of "Wow! A rubberband for my rubberband ball!" He runs off screen and returns with rubberband ball bigger than a canteloupe. It was then that the idea struck me. I pulled the rubberbands out of my pocket and began my laborious task. I picked a fat one to start with. I tied it into a knot, and continued to re-tie and re-tie until it was a little ball with two loose ends. I took the next one, a fat one also, and started looping it and twisting it over the origional knot until it was on as tight as I could get it. In that first day I collected and added about 50 rubberbands to my ball, which at that time was shaped more like a football that a round ball. From that point on I have been collecting and adding rubberbands on a daily basis. I am sure I could have accomplished something more significant and meaningful with the effort I have devoted to the ball, but I didn't. I just made this big honkin ball o' bands, and I don't want any flaming over it!
