Flower Mound Guide

The Outdoors in Flower Mound, Texas

Flower Mound sits between Grapevine Lake and Lewisville Lake, and it makes the most of the location — a big lakeside park with cabins and long trails, one of the best mountain-biking trails in North Texas, and a central park built around a creek and an amphitheater. For a suburb, it has a lot of real outdoors.

Here's where to get outside in and around Flower Mound.

Twin Coves Park

Twin Coves Park is Flower Mound's outdoor gem — 243 acres on the north shore of Grapevine Lake, with 19 furnished cabins, RV sites, a boat ramp, kayak rentals, a disc golf course, two large pavilions, and a lake overlook with a fire pit. It's set up for a full lake day or an overnight stay.

It's a genuine getaway within the city limits, and the mix of lake access, camping, and amenities makes it one of the better city-run parks in the area.

The Northshore and Knob Hill Trails

Flower Mound is trail country. The natural-surface Northshore Trail runs 22.5 miles along the shore of Grapevine Lake, one of the best-known mountain-biking and hiking trails in North Texas, and the 13.1-mile Knob Hill Trail adds more rugged singletrack.

Between them, there are dozens of miles of shoreline trail for mountain bikers, trail runners, and hikers — a real draw that pulls riders from across the Metroplex.

The River Walk at Central Park

Closer to the center of town, The River Walk at Central Park is the most popular spot to stroll — 46.5 acres of park with a creek, walking paths, and an outdoor amphitheater, wrapped around a district of restaurants and shops.

It blends green space with dining and events, making it an easy place for a walk, a meal, or a concert. Between Twin Coves, the trails, and The River Walk, Flower Mound covers the outdoors from rugged singletrack to an easy evening stroll.
