Things to Do in Gladewater, Texas

Gladewater's signature attraction is its downtown antiques district — the reason the Texas Legislature dubbed it the Antique Capital of East Texas in 1995. The historic downtown is packed with antique malls and shops, dozens of dealers spread through the old storefronts, offering everything from furniture and glassware to collectibles, vintage goods, and genuine treasures.

For antique hunters, it's a destination worth a full day of browsing, and even casual visitors enjoy strolling the walkable historic district. The concentration of shops is unusual for a town this size and makes Gladewater a popular day trip for shoppers from across the region. It's the heart of what the town is today.

Gladewater keeps a full and characterful events calendar. The Gladewater Round-Up Rodeo, held each June, is a long-running and beloved tradition — a classic East Texas rodeo with bull riding, barrel racing, and all the trimmings that draws competitors and crowds. It's one of the town's signature events.

In April, the East Texas Gusher Days festival celebrates Gladewater's oil-boom heritage with a parade, food, music, a car show, and family fun downtown.
