Grapevine's Historic Main Street is the heart of it all — a walkable strand lined with around 80 locally owned restaurants, boutiques, art galleries, tasting rooms, and entertainment venues, plus landmarks like the Grapevine Glockenspiel clock tower and the Palace Arts Center. It's one of the most charming and lively downtowns in North Texas.

The district hosts festivals and events all year, and as the Christmas Capital of Texas, Grapevine goes all out for the holidays with weeks of decorations, parades, and events centered on Main Street.

The Grapevine Vintage Railroad runs historic trains from Grapevine to the Fort Worth Stockyards and back, along the scenic Trinity River. Riding 1920s-era coaches behind a vintage diesel between two of the region's best historic districts is a genuine experience, not just a novelty.

It departs from the Main Street depot, so it pairs naturally with a day downtown, and it's one of the most distinctive things to do in the whole Metroplex.

Grapevine is a real wine destination, with seven winery tasting rooms along Main Street — including Messina Hof and Bingham Family Vineyards — plus Homestead Winery in a century-old Victorian home just off the strip. You can put together a self-guided tasting tour entirely on foot.

The town leans into it with wine festivals through the year, and the walkable tasting rooms are a big part of what makes Grapevine a weekend destination.

On the north side of town, Lake Grapevine spreads across roughly 7,300 acres, a center for boating, sailing, fishing, and windsurfing, with shoreline parks like Oak Grove Park providing marinas, trails, and beaches.

The lake balances the historic downtown with a full outdoor side, so a Grapevine visit can just as easily be a day on the water as a stroll down Main Street.

Grapevine has a deep bench of family attractions, led by the SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium. For a classic night out, the Palace Theatre — a restored 1940 movie house on Main Street — screens classic films in its monthly First Friday Film Series, and the Palace Arts Center hosts live performances.

Between the aquarium, the theaters, the railroad, and the lake, Grapevine can fill a family weekend easily, which is why it draws visitors from across the region year-round.
