Hurst Guide

The Outdoors in Hurst, Texas

Hurst is a Mid-Cities suburb between Fort Worth and the airport, and its outdoors are the parks-and-pools kind — a big central park with a fishing pond and trails, a recreation complex, and a couple of water parks for the Texas summer. It's built-up, but it keeps a solid amount of green and blue space.

Here's where to get outside in and around Hurst.

Chisholm Park

Chisholm Park, established in 1969, is the City of Hurst's largest park at 50 acres. It has a duck pond you can fish, plenty of covered picnic spots, baseball fields, open green space, and a walking and running trail. It's the everyday outdoor anchor for the town.

For a suburb Hurst's size, the park gives residents real room to spread out — a spot to fish, picnic, or get a walk in without leaving the city.

Central Park and Recreation

In South Hurst, Central Park is the town's recreation complex, home to the Hurst Recreation Center, the Central Aquatics Center, and the Tennis Center. It's the indoor-and-organized-sports counterpart to Chisholm Park's open space.

Between the two parks, Hurst covers the everyday recreation — courts, pools, a gym, and trails — that a family looks for close to home.

Water Parks

Summer means water in Hurst. The Chisholm Aquatics Center is an outdoor water park on Norwood Drive, and NRH2O Family Water Park — one of the better water parks in the area — is a short drive away in neighboring North Richland Hills.

Between the two, staying cool in the Texas heat is easy, and the water parks are a big part of the Mid-Cities' summer routine.
