Country Tavern, Toward Kilgore
Country Tavern sits at 1526 FM 2767 where it meets SH 31, just west of Kilgore. It opened around 1939 as a café beside a liquor store. Today it's known for hickory-smoked pork ribs, which Texas Monthly called the prettiest ribs in the region in 2008.
Kilgore and Tyler
Kilgore, just northeast, has its own downtown restaurants. Tyler, to the west, has the region's widest choice: steakhouses, sushi, more barbecue and Tex-Mex, and national chains.
