The Colony Guide

Things to Do in The Colony, Texas

The Colony pairs two very different draws: Grandscape, one of the largest mixed-use developments in the country, and the open water of Lewisville Lake it was built beside. Between the shopping and entertainment on one side and the lake on the other, it's a full day out.

Here's what to do in and around The Colony.

Grandscape

Grandscape is The Colony's signature destination — a 400-acre development that draws millions of visitors a year with an outdoor amphitheater for concerts, restaurants, entertainment venues, a resort hotel and spa, and a large open-air shopping district. It's built to be wandered: a show, a meal, and some shopping in one place.

Between the amphitheater concerts, restaurants like Lava Cantina, and the shops, Grandscape can fill a day and an evening. The development grew up around a Nebraska Furniture Mart, but the draw now is the entertainment and dining.

Lewisville Lake

On the other side of town is the water. The Colony sits on the eastern shore of Lewisville Lake, one of North Texas's biggest recreation lakes, and Stewart Creek Park gives easy access with boat ramps, fishing, and picnic areas.

Boating, fishing, and lakeside afternoons are the town's outdoor identity, and having a lake this size at the edge of a suburb is a real perk.

Nearby

The Colony's spot between Frisco, Plano, and Lewisville puts more within a short drive. Frisco's sports and entertainment district — The Star and the PGA of America headquarters — and the shopping and dining of Plano's Legacy West are all close.

But between Grandscape and Lewisville Lake, The Colony has more than enough to fill a day without leaving town.
