• Head to Canton for First Monday Trade Days, the world's largest flea market, just 15 minutes east
• Fish or kayak on Lake Tawakoni, about 20 minutes north of town
• Explore the small-town downtown strip — local shops, a post office, and usually someone willing to talk your ear off
• Visit the Van Zandt County Courthouse in Canton for a look at some solid Texas courthouse architecture
