Where to Eat in Terrell, Texas

Downtown Terrell is a well-kept turn-of-the-century historic district — vintage lighting, wide brick sidewalks, and old commercial buildings repurposed into restaurants, cafés, offices, and shops. The architecture gives the district a real sense of place, and it's the walkable center where several of the town's better spots to eat and grab coffee have landed.

It's the part of town worth strolling before or after a meal, with the city's ten hand-painted exterior wall murals scattered through the district.

The Silver Saloon is Terrell's signature night out — a barbecue restaurant and bar that books live country music from big-name Texas performers almost every weekend of the year. It's part dance hall, part smokehouse, and it pulls people in from well beyond Terrell.

For barbecue with a side of Texas music, it's the obvious call, and it's a big reason Terrell's name gets around the region.

In summer, Ham Orchards on the edge of town becomes a destination in its own right — a peach orchard and farm store selling produce, jams, baked goods, and homemade peach and strawberry ice cream from mid-May through mid-August. It's as much a stop for a treat as a grocery run.

For everyday meals, the usual chains and fast food line the highway corridors, and Terrell's larger size means more local cafés and Tex-Mex than its smaller neighbors. Dallas-area dining is around forty minutes west on I-20.
